Foothill Park

Ah, the beauty of a secluded park on a nice, hot, true summer day.

Today after going to Rinc-a-delt (mmm.... snow cone.... cotton candy.... *drools like Homer*) for a few minutes, I decided I would take a bike ride up to Foothill Park like I used to do almost weekly (the other two times a week were to other places) last quarter. Unfortunately, this quarter I've been so busy that I haven't really had time to do any biking.

Well, I was in for a nasty surprise. My bike was working perfectly, but I was not. It seems I have gotten more out of shape than I would've expected in a short 6-week time frame that I haven't been regularly biking. I actually had to stop 4 or 5 times to catch my breath (it's a difficult ride, but it's fairly short, and it's not TOO difficult), as opposed to 0 or 1 time(s) during last quarter. Ouch.

On the plus side, I was able to finally get up to Foothill Park (it's right off of Page Mill Road, for any interested persons, but farther up the road than you might think), and I stayed there for 2 hours sitting on the nice park grass basking in the sun and reading Mac magazines (I did bring other reading, but I thought I'd start on the magazines, and I didn't get past MacWorld and MacAddict :p ). What a great day today was... the sky was perfectly blue, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, and the temperature wasn't incredibly hot (although I'm sure it will get there in the summer). This is indeed why they call these the "nice" days... all the past days have been incredibly dreary, or there was enough wind to mar the day.

I think I'm going to enjoy these days before they get too hot, and then get too cold and windy in the fall.
