Have a gneiss day!

Sorry for the bad joke.
On this day of Thanksgiving, I thought I'd just post a funny thing I found out/remembered a few days ago: it seems that geology is one of the first things you learn in school. And I mean in kindergarten. :) Over at Almond elementary school, I was in the kindergarten classroom helping my dad with one of the computers, and I saw a rock poster. What was kind of surprising was that they had the specific names for different types of rocks, like gneiss, schist, marble, etc. It also differentiated between igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, which, admittedly, is a simple concept. But it's just funny... I never learned words like "gneiss" or "schist" in science class anytime between 1st and 12th grade.
Hehe, it's just kind of funny seeing a poster of the thing you're studying in college in a kindergarten classroom instead. ;)
