ABF CVII, CVIII

Only two bugs this week, and guess what? They're not about iTunes or Safari! (I do have still have a ton about those waiting in the wings, though.)

CVII: Disabled menu items in QuickTime Player are inconsistent for non-pro users. Disabled non-pro menu items have gray titles and gray keyboard shortcuts in the menu, and the keyboard shortcuts for these items are non-functional. Disabled pro menu items have gray titles but black keyboard shortcuts in the menu, and the keyboard shortcuts for these items are functional.

If Apple insists on popping up a dialog box letting users know that a certain function is reserved for pro users (and what it does), that's all fine and dandy. But it's just obnoxious if the keyboard shortcuts trigger the dialog to pop up, because a non-pro user wouldn't have memorized the shortcut and it's almost guaranteed to be an error. QT Player should just beep, just as it does when the user presses a shortcut for a non-pro disabled menu item.

The menus also just look dumb this way. This is new to QT 7.2, as well. Filed: 5383479.

CVIII: If you cancel a .mac sync or it can't proceed because a sync on another Mac is already in progress, the .mac menu extra will still update the date of last synchronization. This date should reflect the last successful sync, not the last attempted sync. Filed: 5383489.
